Gang goes on rampage, destroys vehicles in Aluva; locals step in with retaliation

ALUVA: Aluva and Palluruthy in Kochi witnessed gangster violence on Monday. This comes at a time when police are desperately trying to curb the rapid rise of gang fights and violence in the state. Locals handed over two goons to Aluva police after they unleashed an attack and damaged vehicles in Uliyannoor. Shahul Hameed (36) of Kalappuraikkal house in Kalamassery HMT Colony and Mohammad Suneer (28) are the arrested culprits.

On Sunday at 10:30 pm, the goons first attacked two brothers near Uliyannoor temple. They reasoned the attack for the duo increasing the speed of their car. The goons then went towards Aluva and attacked two cars. The locals stepped into the issue, caught both of them and handed them to the police. According to them, the goons were intoxicated with dangerous drugs. Aluva police said that the accused are involved in more than five cases including attempted murder and assault.

On Monday morning, Palluruthy native Vipin was hacked by a three-member gang for alleged gang rivalry. He is undergoing treatment at Ernakulam General Hospital. Shanath, Biju and Laijan were arrested by the police. The case is under sections including attempted murder.
