Chennai: Energy secretary of Tamil Nadu Beela Venkatesan has cut off the power to the house of her ex-husband Rajesh Das, who is also a former DGP of Tamil Nadu. Rajesh Das is an accused in an attempt to rape of an IAS officer. While Rajesh claimed that Beela was misusing her power and authority, Beela is now stating that the land on which the house is and the electricity connection are both in her name. She also stated that she didn’t want to unnecessarily spend money which is why she decided to cut off the power.

Even though officials from the energy department were sent to the house to inform him of this, they were not allowed in by Rajesh. After they left, they returned the next Monday with the order letter from the Energy Secretary to remove the fuse from the house. Rajesh Das claimed that there was no need to take such measures and that the bill had not been due yet. According to Beela though, the house has been vacant for three months and further stated that the land and connection was in her name.

Even though time was provided to prove that Rajesh had been living in that house, he had not given a response. Beela claimed that both she and Rajesh had taken the loan together to build the house. Meanwhile, a case has been registered against Rajesh for trespassing on her property.

In 2021, Rajesh Das was accused of sexually harassing an IAS officer. He was later convicted in 2023 by a trial court in Viluppuram. His plea against the ruling of the court was submitted and dismissed by the High Court and was preparing to submit the plea to the Supreme Court. For now, his arrest has been blocked.
