KSRTC driver allegedly stops bus in middle of road citing hunger

PATHANAMTHITTA: It has been alleged that a KSRTC bus was stopped in the middle of the road in Konni as the passengers and staff went to eat. The incident is said to have taken place on the Punalur-Muvattupuzha Highway.

The bus, which had started from Kattappana KSRTC bus depot at 6 in the evening, was stopped in the middle of the road when it reached the town of Konni. After stopping the bus in the middle of the road, the driver, the conductor and the passengers went to the nearby restaurant to have food.

Despite, the public pointing out that the bus was parked in the middle of the road, the driver brushed it off saying that he was hungry. Some of the public have already lodged complaints against the driver. The Punalur-Muvattupuzha Highway is notorious for the accidents that occur on the road. The public pointed out that the driver was this reckless in such a dangerous place and that his actions could have caused a major accident.

Recently, on the same route, a bike passenger had died after his bike collided with a parked trailer. The deceased is Sarath, a native of Konni. The accident took at 1:30 in the morning. According to sources, the bike lost control and collided with the trailer. The grievously injured Sarath could not be saved. It was on that same road that the KSRTC driver recklessly parked the bus. KSRTC may take action against the driver.
