CHENNAI: A Hindi-speaking person called the NIA office in Chennai on Wednesday night and issued a death against Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The call came at the National Investigative Agency office in Purusaiwakkam at around 9.30 pm. According to the police, the unidentified caller disconnected the call after saying he would kill the prime minister during the election campaign. Investigation revealed that the call came from Madhya Pradesh.

NIA's Chennai unit has passed on the information to the North India unit and state cybercrime officials. The investigation into the incident is in progress.

Last March too, there were death threats against the Prime Minister. The police had also registered a case against Mohammed Rasool Kaddare, a native of Karnataka, who threatened to kill Modi through a video shared on social media.
