Court sentences man to 80 years in prison for sexual assaulting stepdaughter, mother gets three years jail for keeping mum

PALAKKAD: A man was sentenced to 80 years in prison, under various sections, for sexually assaulting his nine-year-old stepdaughter here. The police found that the assault took place with the knowledge of the girl's mother.

Apart from sentencing the stepfather to 80 years, the court in Pattambi also sentenced the child's mother to three years in prison. The court found that the child was a victim of cruel and serious abuse.

Although the mother knew about the child's abuse, she did not disclose it. The action was taken in a POCSO case reported last year under Chalissery police station in Palakkad.
