Female doctor bitten by rat during train journey

PERINTHALMANNA: Panic broke out among the passengers on the Shoranur passenger train on Tuesday due to suspicions that a female doctor was bitten by a snake during the journey. Although the female doctor was immediately rushed to the hospital, she was later discharged after observation as it was found that the poison had not entered her body. Upon inspecting the train, a rat was found instead of a snake. The doctors concluded that the woman may have been bitten by the rat.

The incident took place on the Shoranur passenger from Nilambur at around 8 am yesterday. As the train was approaching the Vallapuzha station, Nilambur native Gayathri (25), an Ayurveda doctor, felt that something bit her leg under the seat. When she examined her leg, she noticed bite marks that looked like a snakebite. Following this, she was taken to a hospital near the Vallapuzha station. She was later shifted to a private hospital in Perinthalmanna for expert treatment. Upon examination, it was found that poison had not entered her body.

After the train reached Shornur, the Railway Police conducted a detailed inspection inside the coach in which the doctor was travelling. During the return journey, the coach was completely locked without admitting people. After the train reached Nilambur, a special team of RPF and Forest RRF thoroughly inspected the compartment. However, they found a rat instead of a snake.
