Meppadi Chembra Peak Eco Tourism fund irregularity: Three officials suspended based on inquiry report by DFO Martin Lowell

MEPPADI: Action against three employees in the Chembra Peak Eco Tourism Fund scam. The beat forest officers who had the charge of VSS secretary were suspended. PP Bineesh, MA Ranjith and VP Vishnu have been suspended based on the inquiry report by DFO Martin Lowell.

Around 16 lakh rupees were misappropriated from August 2021 to April 2024. When the irregularity was discovered, the accused employees themselves returned the amount. They cheated the money received in the ticket for trekking to Chembra mountain without paying it properly in the bank. The rule is that the amount collected every day should be deposited in the bank account on the same day. However, the amount was deposited only once a month after bypassing this law. It is indicated that this amount has been utilized for other purposes. The irregularity was found during the inspection conducted by the forest vigilance department.
