Explicit videos on minor girl's phone gallery; 40-year-old Instagram friend arrested in Kollam

KOLLAM: A middle-aged man was arrested in Kollam for spreading explicit images of a 13-year-old girl he met through Instagram. Vinod (40), a native of Cherthala, was arrested by Kadakkal police.

It was only last month that the accused became friends with the girl through Instagram. The two started chatting from the moment they turned friends and in the meanwhile, Vinod went overboard by sending nude images and porn videos to the minor girl. Later, the two exchanged WhatsApp numbers and Vinod even engaged in a nude video call with the minor girl.

During one of their intimate phone conversations, the minor girl shared her nude image with the culprit. The same was shared by Vinod to his friends which later appeared on internet platforms. The parents of the girl were alarmed about their daughter’s excessive phone use and the drop in her academic standards. While checking the phone, they were shocked to see the explicit conversations between the two.

The phone gallery of the minor girl was replete with porn and nude images. In a later search, it was confirmed that all the pictures were sent to the girl by Vinod. The police registered a case against Vinod under the POCSO section. The accused was arrested in Malappuram. According to police, Vinod is a carpenter and is the father of two children.
