'Fearful thoughts about daughter's life...'; Crucial evidence in Neyyattinkara suicide case

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A crucial piece of information has come out in the ghastly incident of a mother committing suicide after attempting murder on her daughter. Leela (77), a native of Arakunnu committed suicide on Saturday after slitting her daughter Bindu’s throat.

Bindu has confessed to police that it was her mother who cut her throat. Bindu is bedridden and is a diabetes patient. One of Leela's sons died in an accident a month ago while another son is living with relatives. Leela was haunted by thoughts of her daughter being forced to live alone after her lifetime. This thought soon started forcing Leela to act diabolically.

On Saturday morning, one relative who reached the house with food found Leela’s charred body. He soon informed the ward member about the incident. Immediately the police reached the spot and shifted Bindu to hospital.

Leela committed suicide by self-immolation. According to the police version that came earlier, the family was facing financial problems. Leela's husband and Bindu's husband had died earlier.
