Government's progress report: Major boost in education, health sectors

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Pinarayi government's progress report says that 900 graduate programs and 204 PG programs have been sanctioned after this government came to power. Through this, 30,000 students got learning facility. 35 self-supporting colleges and one aided college were sanctioned.

Foreign language study will be made part of the four-year degree course. Autonomous status will be given to research institutes. The scheme was started for students to earn income along with their studies. Finland has adopted a model for excellence in education. 2.98 lakhs in first class and 42,281 children in classes 2 to 10. 488 school buildings were renovated within 2 years. 200 working days are ensured during the academic year.

Steps will be taken to establish public health cadre in the health department. Those injured in road accidents will be given free treatment in the first 48 hours. The school health plan will be revised. 1005 posts have been created in health sector. Out of 503610 allotted houses, 403811 have been completed. 92,948 people signed contracts for house construction.

Corruption will be eradicated

Government services will be made online to eliminate corruption. Many certificates will be waived to avoid the procedure. Vigilance activities have been streamlined. In 2023, 60 government officials and 4 agents were arrested in 55 trap cases. 161 cases were taken. Police will be modernized according to time. 503 posts have been created in police. A new station will be started at Manjoor by bifurcating Vaikom and Kaduthuruthi stations.

Salary of home guards will be increased

Strict instructions are given to the police to behave with respect and courtesy to the people. CCTV has been installed in all 520 stations. Since 2016, 105 police officers involved in criminal cases have been dismissed. Maximum services at stations will be brought online. New prisons will be built to address overcrowding in prisons. New blocks and cells will be constructed in existing jails. The salary of home guards will be increased.
