ALUVA: Shemir, a native of Palakkad, a victim of an Iran-based international organ trafficking ring, was arrested from Bengaluru by the investigation team. Although he is a native of Palakkad, he was staying in Pollachi for some time. Shemir escaped to Bengaluru after the main agent in Kerala, Sabit Nasar from Thrissur Edamuttam, was caught.

The investigation team searched for Shemir in Pollachi and Coimbatore areas for several days but could not find him. In the meantime, they got a hint that he is in Bengaluru. He was taken into custody by the Nedumbassery police. Selling organs is a crime under the Indian Penal Code. Shemir told the investigation team that he had gone into hiding fearing that he would be prosecuted in this situation. Shemir came to Iran with Sabit and donated a kidney three months ago. The police said that Shemir, whose follow-up treatment was stopped since he was absconding, is ailing.
