NEW DELHI: The second Malayali of the third Narendra Modi Cabinet is George Kurian. There were speculations in the morning, but George Kurian did not confirm this. He had attended a tea party held at Modi's residence.

He is the former vice-chairman of the National Minorities Commission. He is also the first Malayali to reach this position. He was BJP’s former national vice president. He had also served the post of BJP state vice president. He contested the assembly elections from Puthupally. George Kurian is a native of Kanakari in Kottayam.

Suresh Gopi is the next Malayali to join the third Modi cabinet. He and his family have left for Delhi. There were reports that Anil Antony, who recently joined the BJP from the Congress, were being considered for the ministerial post. Even though he did not win, Anil Antony was able to make a significant impact in the constituency, according to the assessment of the BJP central leadership. The BJP central leadership asked Anil to pay more attention to the constituency.

NDA candidate and BJP state vice president Sobha Surendran, who contested from Alappuzha was summoned to Delhi. It is doubtful on whether she will be given a ministerial berth.

Modi's NDA government will be sworn in today after Jawaharlal Nehru's third consecutive term as Prime Minister. Rashtrapati Draupadi Murmu will administer the oath of office at the Rashtrapati Bhavan at 7.15 pm.
