PALA: Adv Binu Pulickakandam, the only councillor to win in the CPM symbol in the Pala municipality, has been expelled from the CPM citing a breach of discipline and anti-organisational activities. He was a member of Pala Thekkekara West Branch and CPM Parliamentary Party Leader in Pala Municipality.

Yesterday, Binu had publicly come out against Kerala Congress (M) chairman Jose K Mani. Following this, the Pala area committee decided to expel Binu for reacting in the media against the decision of the CPM and the LDF state committee regarding the Rajya Sabha seat. The Kottayam district committee approved the decision of the area committee.

"As a councillor of the Pala municipality, Binu was constantly taking anti-party stances. He had been warned several times for taking stances against the party policy and front," Pala Area Secretary PM Joseph said.

For the last one and a half years, Binu has been appearing in public functions wearing a black dress alleging that he was denied the post of Pala Municipality Chairman because of the opposition from Kerala Congress (M). Binu had landed in another controversy after Jose Cheeramkuzhy of Kerala Congress (M) accused him of stealing his Apple Airpod during the municipal council meeting.
