KOCHI: Star organization AMMA is gearing up for a change in leadership. Babu will be stepping down after holding the post of General Secretary for more than two decades. Amma's annual general body and office bearer elections are held on June 30. Idavela Babu himself responded that he will resign on that day. Babu responded that Mohanlal will continue as the President and whoever does not abuse his power will take over as General Secretary.

'It's time for new people to come in. New thoughts must come. The General Secretary is a very powerful post. I want someone who doesn't abuse it. Lalettan was of the stance that he would retreat if I was not there. He reversed that decision in a collective discussion. When people in the organization got involved in politics, problems arose. Earlier no one had politics. Now everyone has influence in various political parties. Public also know this. That feeling is the biggest danger that happened to AMMA. Since then, the criticism has intensified.

3 crore rupees is required regularly to carry things including insurance. It is not an easy thing to do. It can only happen if there is a collective effort. Elsewhere, things will get blocked somewhere,' says Idavela Babu.
