Fire claims life of man when only few days left for him to reach home with gifts for daughter getting full A plus 

KOLLAM: Many who reached Kuwait and striving hard to support their families, were killed in the fire that broke out yesterday. The family's only hope has died out with this incident. One among of them is Lukose (48) of Kollam Vadakkottuvila.

Lukose, who was a mechanic in his hometown, reached Kuwait 18 years ago. He was appointed as the supervisor of the NBTC Group, where K G Abraham was the managing director. The demise of Lookose reached the family while they were trying to improve their lives through hard work.

Lukose’ elder daughter Lydia, a native of Adichanalloor, Kollam, got full A plus in all subjects in the recent plus two examinations. His death was when he was all set to reach home next month for his daughter's admission. L Shaji, a member of the panchayat, said that Lookose was very proud and happy after hearing his daughter’s result.
Lookose’ wife Shiny is a housewife. They have two daughters. Younger daughter Loyus is a fifth standard student.

Waited for video call, got tragic news
Kelu Ponmaleri, a native of Kasaragod, used to video call his family from Kuwait every day. However, it did not happen yesterday. His wife K N Mani waited for the call for a long time.

Meanwhile, news of the fire in Kuwait was known through social media. She tried to call her husband Kelu many times but was not answered. She thought that he must have gone to know about the fire. Colleagues consoled Mani, a senior clerk in Pilikode grama panchayat, that he may have not taken the phone. She was waiting for her husband's call. Her colleagues brought her home in Ilambachi. Finally, came the death news and her relatives were not able to console her.

Kelu was the sixth of seven children of a poor family in Pilikode. After THSLC from Cheruvathur Technical High School, he passed Mechanical Engineering from Swami Nityananda Polytechnic in Kanhangad. Kelu reached Kuwait later. He died while working as a production engineer at NBTC Group in Kuwait. He visited home in last April.
