Two months since start of service; why did SpiceJet cancel Ayodhya service?

HYDERABAD: Spicejet has cancelled a flight to Ayodhya two months after the service started. SpiceJet started its flight service from Hyderabad to Ayodhya on April 2. The service from Hyderabad has been suspended from the 1st of June.

SpiceJet spokesperson explained that the service was cancelled due to the lack of increase in the number of passengers as expected. Serving a sector, continuing it and then increasing or decreasing the number of services is based only on the number of passengers.

It was SpiceJet's Airbus A320 that operated this route. The company decided to stop the services after the number of passengers decreased. The last direct SpiceJet flight from Hyderabad to Ayodhya was on May 30. The service that started on April 2 and was three days a week. The flight used to depart from the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Hyderabad at 10.45 am and reach Ayodhya at 12.45 pm. The return service used to leave Ayodhya at 1.42 pm and return to Hyderabad at 3.25 pm.

Currently, Hyderabad - Ayodhya flights are showing routes via Delhi. The distance that was covered in two hours earlier now takes around seven hours. The airport in Ayodhya was dedicated to the nation by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 30 December 2023.
