MoS Suresh Gopi offers golden rosary to Lourdes church in Thrissur

THRISSUR: Union Minister of State Suresh Gopi on Saturday offered gold rosary to the Lourdes Cathedral in Thrissur. The minister of state arrived at the church with an entourage of BJP leaders. Although the visit from the minister was anticipated, the people belonging to the church had no idea that the actor-turned-politician would gift a golden rosary to the Lady of Lourdes.

Suresh Gopi was received with a bouquet by the parish vicar and members of the governing body. The minister soon entered into the church premises and sought permission from the priests to place the golden rosary on the Lady of Lourdes.

Earlier on Saturday, Suresh Gopi paid floral tributes at the memorial of former Chief Minister and Congress Leader K Karunakaran. Suresh Gopi even visited the erstwhile leader’s residence ( Murali Mandiram) and had breakfast. He was then accompanied to the memorial by Karunakaran’s daughter Padmaja Venugopal.

Last January, just before his daughter's wedding, Suresh Gopi had presented a gold crown at Lourdes Church. A lot of controversy ensued targeting the politician asking for the exact weight of the crown he offered to the church. In a response, Suresh Gopi vowed to gift a crown worth Rs 10 lakh to Lourdes Church if he emerged victorious in the elections.
