IMD warns of isolated rains in Kerala in coming hours

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned of rains in various districts of the state on Saturday. Also, there is a possibility of light rain at isolated places in Thiruvananthapuram, Ernakulam and Idukki districts in the next three hours.

The Indian National Centre for Ocean Information Services has informed that there is a possibility of 'kallakkadal' phenomenon and high waves along Kerala coast and Tamil Nadu coast till 11.30 pm on Sunday.

Fishermen and coastal residents in these areas should exercise special caution.

Precautions

1. As the rough seas are likely to intensify, stay away from the danger areas as per the instructions of the authorities.

2. Keep fishing vessels (boats, boats, etc.) safely moored in the harbor. Keeping a safe distance between boats can avoid the possibility of collision. Safety of fishing equipment should be ensured.

3. Avoid trips to the beach and activities at sea completely.

Meanwhile, no red, orange or yellow alerts have been issued in any district today.

The IMD has announced yellow alert in these districts:

17 -06-2024: Alappuzha, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Malappuram

18-06-2024: Kannur, Kasaragod

A chance of isolated heavy rain is also predicted. Heavy rain refers to rainfall of 64.5 mm to 115.5 mm in 24 hours.
