Rajya Sabha election: All three candidates in Kerala elected unopposed

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: All three candidates in Kerala were elected unopposed for the three Rajya Sabha seats that fell vacant in the state. While PP Suneer and Jose K Mani were elected from the LDF, Haris Beeran was selected from the UDF. The three will go to the Rajya Sabha without an election as no one else submitted their nomination papers till 3 pm today.

Harris Biran, a Supreme Court lawyer and president of Delhi KMC, is the one who is coordinating the legal struggles of the Muslim League, including the Citizenship Amendment Act. He is a native of Aluva, Ernakulam. PK Firos was also considered for the Rajya Sabha seat of the League.

Jose K Mani is the chairman of the Kerala Congress (M). Suneer, a native of Ponnani, is the state assistant secretary of the CPI. Currently, he is the Vice Chairman of the Housing Board. He had contested against Rahul Gandhi in the Wayanad constituency in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.

Earlier, the CPM had given up both the Rajya Sabha seats to the constituent parties following the setback in the Lok Sabha elections. The CPM took the decision understanding the need to maintain the cohesion of the Left Front
