THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Human Rights Commission calls for controlling celebration programs and processions on the main roads of the capital city. Acting Chairperson and Judicial Member of the Commission K. Baijunath informed this in the order.

In its order, the commission said that processions and festive programs conducted by various organizations occupying the main roads attract motorists. Motorists have to wait on the road for hours.

The order was filed against the traffic obstruction on the Kavadiyar Vellayambalam road due to the rally on the International Olympic Day on June 23, 2023. The complainant also stated that there was no warning about the mob.

The Traffic North Assistant Commissioner informed the Human Rights Commission that warnings are given about traffic jams and signposts are put up in such cases. Action was taken on the complaint filed by Anilkumar Pandala, a native of Kowdiar. The complainant also alleged that there were instances where he could not get the train due to traffic jams.
