Black flag protest against Min V Sivankutty: KSU T'puram district president arrested

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: KSU Thiruvananthapuram district president Gopu Neyyar has been arrested by the police in connection with a black flag protest against minister V Sivankutty for not resolving the Plus One seat crisis. Gopu Neyyar was arrested by the police from his house.

The black flag protest took place in front of the Minister's official residence, Rose House in Vazhuthacaud, around 3.30 pm on Sunday. The KSU activists jumped in front of the minister's vehicle and stopped it while he was on his way to the swearing-in ceremony at Raj Bhavan. The activists shouted slogans demanding the minister's resignation. Meanwhile, one of the protesters tied a black flag to the minister's car.

The protest was led by the KSU district committee against the government not solving the crisis by allocating additional batches despite the third phase allotment of plus one seat. Then there was a push and shove between the police and the protestors. Security personnel arrived from the official residence and cleared the way for the minister by removing the protestors. The protesters stood around the vehicle chanting slogans for more than five minutes. The police also removed the black flag from the vehicle.

After this, Minister V Sivankutty's responded that everyone has the right to protest.
