PATHANAMTHITTA: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan's working style has caused a lot of opposition in the CPM district committee. The Chief Minister's behaviour was a major factor for the heavy defeat in the elections. People saw in disgust, the CM showing his anger even to the mike. This style does not belong to communists. Anti-incumbency sentiment was well reflected in the elections. The private secretaries of the ministers ignored the directions of the district committee. Letter from the party secretary, is not considered. The party should investigate the election defeat in detail.

Many of the party members could not accept Thomas Isaac, the candidate from Pathanamthitta. The grassroots activists wanted Raju Abraham to be the candidate. The public expected it too. Thomas Isaac, who camped in the district a year and a half ago, could not influence the public. Some of the leaders of the district were indifferent in their activities. During the campaign, two leaders who were members of the district secretariat got into a fight which caused disdain. It is estimated that more than 30,000 solid party votes were lost in Pathanamthitta. The district committee meeting will continue today.
