NEW DELHI: The whole of India, mostly commoners are counting the days for the introduction of Vande Bharat Sleeper trains. Union Minister of Railways Ashwini Vaishnaw had earlier given a sly hint about the trail run dates of the sleeper trains, that come from the elite train family.

The train that is planned for long journeys comes with elite technical facilities. The final stage of construction is progressing in Bengaluru. With the arrival of new sleeper coaches, commoners will now have access to long travels in luxurious comfort, and all at a modest rate.

It is reported that the country's first Vande Bharat sleeper will start operation on August 15, the Indian Independence Day. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will perform the flag-off ceremony. The first service will be on the busiest Delhi-Mumbai route. It is one of the most frequented and busiest routes, in terms of passenger count. Passengers on these routes often experience distress in booking tickets while the servicing trains run with chock full of passengers; allowing them only a little space to breathe.

The service to Mumbai from Delhi will be via Bhopal and Surat. Earlier, Union Minister of Railways Ashwini Vaishnaw said that Vande Bharat sleeper trains will start operation within two months. He also visited the site in Bengaluru to review the ongoing works.

The Sleeper trains come with 16 coaches with luxurious facilities. Ten of these coaches will be Third AC. Four coaches will be the second AC and one will be first AC. According to the Railways, the Vande Bharat will travel at a speed of 130 kmph in the first phase. Later, the speed will be increased from 160 to 220 kmph.
