Mother, sister and sister's daughter's death; life imprisonment for younger brother who killed elder brother in revenge

MANNARKKAD: Court sentenced younger brother to life imprisonment for stabbing his elder brother to death and injuring his elder brother's wife. Judge Jomon John of the Mannarkkad Scheduled Caste Scheduled Tribe Special Court sentenced Sivanunni (42) for murdering Prabhakaran (45), a resident of Agali Nellipathy. The punishment is rigorous imprisonment for life and a fine of one lakh rupees. If the fine is not paid, Sivanunni will have to undergo additional imprisonment of two years. The court also ordered to pay Rs 50,000 to the victim's wife and son as a fine.
The incident related to the case was in 2016. When Prabhakaran, a construction worker, was coming home from work, Shivanunni attacked him on the road near his house and stabbed him to death. Prabhakaran's wife, Vijayam, who tried to stop Shivanunni, was also stabbed by him.
In 2002, their mother, sister and sister's daughter committed suicide by consuming poison. The charge sheet states that Shivanunni stabbed Prabhakaran to death because of the enmity that Prabhakaran was the reason for their death.
