GUYANA: The second semi-final to decide the opponent for South Africa in the final of the T20 tournament is getting delayed. The match scheduled to start at 10:30 am (US time) was delayed due to rain and wet outfield. As per the latest report, the umpires have decided to begin the match at (9:15 pm (IST).

Minding the worst scenario, if the match gets abandoned due to rain, India will advance to the final. India finished higher in rankings than England in the Super 8 round of the tournament which will prove handy if rain spoils the game.

Though rain stayed away during the toss timings of the game, the umpires deemed the situation not perfect since the outfield was wet. Moments after the decision, rain lashed again covering the whole pitch and ground in water.

According to the information provided by the Department of Meteorology, rain is expected to continue in Guyana from 10.30 am to 6.30 pm (local time). As there is no reserve day for semis, a cut-off time of 250 minutes is allowed to avoid losing overs. If the game remains delayed till 12:30 am (Indian time). The umpires will consider options to cut short the overs.

Since this is a semi-final, the game will certainly have at least 10 overs to play. On another note, if the game remains delayed even after 1:44 am (IST), the match referee can decide to abandon the game.
