NEW DELHI: Adani Group to get stronger in defence sector. Adani Defense and Aerospace has partnered with Belgium's leading arms maker Thales Group for a contract to manufacture 70 mm rockets for India's attack helicopters. Thales Group is the world's leading manufacturer of 70 mm rockets. These are rockets that can be used with precision against armored vehicles, air defense systems, radars, etc.

According to the report, the two groups will collaborate under the Defense Acquisition Procedure (DAP) 2020 on manufacturing, assembly and testing of rockets in India. The rockets that will be manufactured under the leadership of Adani Group will be of the type that can be used from Dhruv, light combat helicopter Prachand, Apache AH64 and MK35 choppers.

Currently, Thales' 70 mm unguided rockets are used in ALH and light combat helicopters. 70mm rockets are universally considered to be the best for air-to-ground attacks. The need for such rockets is high for the Indian Army. Earlier this month, Adani Defense had signed a landmark agreement with EDGE Group, one of the leading advanced technology defence groups in the UAE.
