Defeat in elections; CPM for corrective action; central committee instruction to reach out to people
NEW DELHI: Learning from the massive defeat in the Lok Sabha elections, CPM is taking corrective measures. The Central Committee has decided to reach out to the public and listen to them. It has been proposed to eliminate the animosity of the people towards the party.
There was an assessment in the Central Committee that the religious community organizations were working against the CPM. However, there was a leakage of votes among the grassroots-level voters. The Central Committee also opined that the people will return to the party if communist ideas are brought back. The central committee directly evaluated the issues such as where the mistakes that led to the setback in Kerala occurred and how they should be corrected. In the central committee meeting, leaders including KK Shailaja did not deny the claim that there was anti-government sentiment. It is indicated that the central leadership will prepare necessary guidelines for corrective measures.
