KOCHI: Actor Jagadish said that everyone had wished for a generational change in AMMA this time. Jagadish said this after being elected as vice president at the annual general meeting of AMMA held at the Gokulam Convention Center in Kochi.

"There was no difference of opinion in the deciding the panel. Everyone, including Mohanlal, wanted a generational change in AMMA this time. We thought it would be good if Prithviraj and Kunchako Boban became members of the governing body. However, they did not show interest in it. With that, Mohanlal came forward following our insistence. Perhaps the younger generation's hectic schedules are preventing them from assuming leadership roles in AMMA. They might be thinking that they won't be able to devote more time to the organisation. I believe they will be ready to take up positions after a while. Anyway, AMMA has to move forward," Jagadish said.

Jagadish also opened up about women's representation in the governing body. "According to the bylaws, there should be four women in the governing body. Women who contested for the posts of General Secretary and Vice President were defeated. Only three people competed. One person has to be co-opted. If two contestants had won, two people would have a chance. Now, it has been decided in principle to include all three people. As far as the new governing body is concerned, the desire is to keep everyone together," he added.
