Rain in four districts in next three hours in Kerala, alert issued

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) informed that there is a possibility of light rain at isolated places in Alappuzha, Idukki, Kannur and Kasaragod of Kerala in the next three hours. The rain warning is due to the presence of a low-pressure system from the coast of Gujarat to Kerala and a cyclonic circulation has formed over the coast of Gujarat.


Warning of thunderstorms
The department has informed that rain with thunder and lightning is possible at isolated places in Kerala till July 5. Thunderstorms are dangerous. They cause great damage to human and animal life, electrical and communication networks and household appliances connected to electrical conductors. Therefore, the public should take precautions from the time they start seeing the clouds. Lightning may not always be visible, so do not hesitate to take precautions.

According to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Research Centre, Kallakadal phenomenon and high waves are likely to occur along Kerala coast and Tamil Nadu coast till 11.30 pm on Wednesday. Fishermen and coastal residents in these areas should exercise special caution.
