Financial liabilities: Three members of family attempt suicide by consuming poison, woman dies

NAGERCOIL: One person died and two others are undergoing treatment at a hospital after three members of a family attempted suicide by consuming poison due to financial liabilities. The deceased has been identified as Kulasekharam Mamoodu native Shailaja (57). Her husband Ajith Kumar (65) and son Supradeep (27) are undergoing treatment at the hospital.

The incident took place on Tuesday. After consuming the poison, Ajith Kumar called his elder son living in Coimbatore on the phone and informed the matter. Following this, the son immediately contacted the neighbours in Mamoodu and informed them about the incident. Upon learning about the incident, Fire Force officials and relatives reached the spot and broke into the house to find the three lying unconscious. They were immediately rushed to the private hospital in Kulasekharam. However, Shailaja's life could not be saved. The police have launched an investigation into the financial liability of the family.
