NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday responded to the Motion of Thanks on the President's address in the Rajya Sabha. Speaking in the upper house, Modi said that the politics of misleading people has been defeated. He also alleged that some people were deliberately trying to black out the massive victory of the NDA. The Prime Minister said that the Constitution is paramount to him. He also said that a decisive decision will be taken against poverty in the next five years.

Although the first 10 minutes were peaceful in the Rajya Sabha, the Opposition later started raising slogans against Modi. They shouted demanding that Mallikarjun Kharge should be allowed to speak.

Meanwhile, the first session of the 18th Lok Sabha concluded yesterday. Although the Prime Minister came down heavily on the opposition during his speech yesterday in the Lok Sabha, he did not respond to the issues raised by Opposition Leader Rahul Gandhi such as the Manipur issue.

"I'm proud that the people have accepted the NDA once again. We retained power despite the opposition spreading lies against us. We can understand their pain. People have accepted corruption-free governance. The country had witnessed appeasement politics for a long time. Now, there is no politics of favouritism in India. Our goal is the development of all," Modi said in the Lok Sabha yesterday.
