NEW DELHI: The opposition has strongly reacted against the criticism made by Prime Minister Narendra Modi against Rahul Gandhi in the Lok Sabha. Opposition parties, including Congress, said that Modi levelled criticism against Rahul Gandhi to divert attention from various issues such as the NEET issue.

Earlier, the Prime Minister had responded to Rahul Gandhi's allegation that the central government had used investigation agencies targetting him. "This Balak Buddhi (childish behaviour) sometimes attempts to hug someone in the House. Sometimes, he will wink at others," Modi said referring to the incident where Rahul Gandhi hugged him in the Lok Sabha in 2018.

Meanwhile, the Congress hit back at the Prime Minister saying that 140 crore Indians told the Modi govt "You are not capable" in the 2024 Lok Sabha polls.

Samajwadi Party president and Kanauj MP Akhilesh Yadav also reacted against the Prime Minister's 'balak buddhi' taunt.

"Modi is saying all these to ensure that no one asks anything about NEET. Those saying Balak buddhi are balak (children) themselves because when people have chosen someone, such comments should not be made. There are balaks in the government who are still not able to understand the country's problems," Akhilesh Yadav said.
