Woman and son-in-law found dead in house in Kovalam, suicide note read 'taking mother also'

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A woman and her son-in-law were found dead at home in Kovalam's Vandithadam. The deceased have been identified as Shyamala (76), who live on rent at a house in Varnam Road near Vandithadam Veterinary Hospital, and her son-in-law Sabulal (50). The dead bodies were seen when the maid came home at 7 am. The preliminary assumption is that they have committed suicide.

Sabu's wife died a month ago. He was undergoing treatment for cancer for about a year. As per relatives, Sabu was under depression.

According to the police, it is likely that Sabu committed suicide after killing his mother-in-law. A suicide note with message that translates to 'taking mother also' has been found. Sabu's body was hanging. Shyamala was found dead on the ground. The police said that they have started an investigation into the incident.
