NEET row: SFI march to Kerala Raj Bhavan turns violent

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: As part of the nationwide education uproar over the NEET exam row, the left-wing student organizations went on strike in the state on Thursday demanding the resignation of Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.

SFI marched to Raj Bhavan in Thiruvananthapuram while state president PM Arsho said that the educational strike was a success all across the state. SFI marched to Raj Bhavan in protest against the NEET irregularity and the Governor's move to set up a search committee to determine the new vice-chancellor, without including any Kerala university representatives. The march was inaugurated by state president PM Arsho.

Central Committee Member E. Afzal gave the welcome speech. The activists' attempt to cross the police barricade near the Raj Bhavan led to a clash. Police used water cannons.

Arrested SFI state president K. Anushree, central committee members E. Afzal, Hassan Mubarak, v. Vichitra, District Secretary S.K. Adarsh, Secretariat members Anand S. Uzhamalakkal, S.L. Vijay, A.P. Anand, S. Abhijit and others were remanded.
