Tree falls on railway track in Kochi; hits power line and catches fire, rail traffic hit

KOCHI: A tree uprooted and fell on the railway track in Ernakulam. Train transportation was disrupted following this. A tree which was on the land of a private person fell on the track near Lourdes Hospital in Pachalam.

The tree later hit the power line of the railways and caught fire. Eyewitnesses said the tree fell with a loud noise. As the tree was wet, the fire was not severe. Train services have been temporarily suspended. Venad and Mangala Expresses have been halted. Trains services to Kottayam area have been restored. It has been hinted that train services to Thrissur will be resumed soon.
