THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Local Self Government Department has issued an ultimatum to add the building information not included in the Ksmart application prepared for Municipalities and Corporations by September 30.

If necessary, the municipal secretaries are also instructed to depute temporary employees to conduct field inspections and check the condition of the buildings. If eligible temps are not available then those who possess plus two and know data entry can be appointed. Deputy Secretary, Revenue Officer and Revenue Inspector in Municipal Corporations will be responsible for completing this.

The action came after the local principal director informed that there were technical difficulties as the information of thousands of taxable and tax exempt buildings was not added to Ksmart app from Sanchaya software.

Information such as ex-servicemen's tax-free buildings, tax paid till demolition of demolished buildings, six-month tax exemption for locked buildings should be added. Building owners who have paid tax till 2023-24 will get a one-time waiver of arrears arising as part of data cleansing. For those who have not paid the tax in full till 2023-24, the arrears paid till then will be waived in one go. For those who have paid full tax including arrears, the excess amount paid will be deducted from the tax from this year.
