One of my favourite films, this could be reason why it didn't fare well in theatres: Mohanlal

After 24 years of its original release, 'Devadoothan', a classic born from the collaboration of Mohanlal and Sibi Malayil is gearing up for re-release with the help of new technology. Mohanlal spoke during the trailer launch event of the film said this is one of his favorite films as an actor.

"If you ask why this movie didn't have a good run in theatres back in the day, maybe because it came at a wrong time and people couldn't have understood it completely. Maybe because this movie was released along with some other movie, or maybe the audience were not in sync with the pace of this movie," Mohanlal said.

Mohanlal added that the film Devdoothan has something to say to the audience today and that is why it remained intact in the lab for so long.

"When the film's producer Siyad Koker said about the re-release of Devdoothan, I was wondered and asked if the film is still intact, because after 24 years, the film might be lost from the lab. But 'Prasad' had the print of that movie. The prints of many movies are not available now. All of that was lost because it wasn't properly taken care of. And because of that, I believe this film has an element of luck in that it and has something to say to someone. But now we understand, we have something to tell you," he added.
