Police officer shoots Brazil goalkeeper after match; shocking video
BRASILIA: A Brazilian footballer was shot in his leg by a police official following a scuffle at the end of a 12th-round match in the Brazilian League Second Division. Centro Oeste defeated Gremio Anapolis (2-1), which led to a ruckus after the referee blew the last whistle of the game.
With the scuffle getting worse, the police officials intervened and one among them shot a rubber bullet at Gremio Anapolis goalkeeper Ramon Souza. In the viral video, players can be seen expressing their disbelief over the shooting, while some others scattered away in fear of further retaliation from the police.
Souza was taken away from the stadium on a stretcher while the club termed the incident as a ‘criminal act’.
Meanwhile, the military police of the State of Goias have confirmed an investigation in the coming days. The whole incident has left a shock in the football world, with many star players condemning the dastardly police conduct.
