This historic moment will not be complete without remembering Oommen Chandy: AN Shamseer

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: On the occassion of trial run at the Vizhinjam seaport, Speaker AN Shamseer recounted the work done by former Chief Minister Oommen Chandy for the project. Shamseer wrote on Facebook that the historic moment will not be complete without remembering Oommen Chandy's immeasurable contributions and self-sacrifice.

"Vizhinjam Port will become a major milestone for the economic development of Kerala. This port will create new employment opportunities for the state and increase the commercial ties of the state. This will lead to infrastructure development in Kerala.

The leadership given by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan at every crisis point in the timeline of Vizhinjam port was a boost to the realization of the port. Despite strong protests against the plan, he went ahead with determination. Vizhinjam Port opens up endless possibilities for the future of Kerala. I strongly believes that this project will become a new era for the economic development of the state," Shamseer said.

Earlier, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan sparked controversy after avoiding any mention of Oommen Chandy during the official reception ceremony of the first mothership which arrived at Vizhinjam International Port. He avoided mentioning Oommen Chandy or the former UDF government.
