The central government has issued an order transferring Thrissur District Collector VR Krishna Teja from Kerala cadre to Andhra cadre. The deputation is for three years. Krishna Teja will assume the post of Officer on Special Duty of Andhra Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan.

Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan handles the Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Departments. The Andhra government highly appreciates Krishna Teja’s work, evident during the Kerala floods of 2018 and the pandemic.

Krishna Teja, a native of Guntur, Andhra, is a 2015 batch IAS officer. After serving as Sub Collector of Thrissur and Alappuzha Collector, he became the Collector of Thrissur. Krishna Teja's project to find sponsors and secure the education of children who lost their parents during COVID-19 was impressive and saw the collector getting many admirers in Kerala.

The central government issued the order to put Krishna Teja in the Andhra cadre after the Kerala government expressed no resentment. Teja will head back to his home state after completing 20 months as Thrissur district collector.
