Scuba team confirms what seen in robotic screen is not body part; Navy for rescue operations

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The search for the sanitation worker Joy, who went missing while cleaning the Amayizhanjan Canal, still continues even after 26 hours. The scuba team confirmed that it was not human body parts found during the search using a robotic camera inside the tunnel.

A scuba team is searching the area. It was earlier suspected that the footage captured by the camera was the foot of the missing Joy. The footage of suspected body parts was obtained during the search using a robotic camera. The scuba team then went down into the tunnel and inspected it. It was confirmed that what was seen was not a human body but garbage. It was decided to go down the tunnel again and check. The conclusion is that Joy is trapped inside the tunnel between the railway tracks.

The navy will arrive for the search and reports said that they will reach the capital by evening. A 30-member team including divers under the leadership of NDRF (National Disaster Response Force) is presently engaged in the rescue operations. Along with this, the operation using the robot will also continue. The NDRF team said that mud and garbage have been accumulated in the canal.

N Joy (45) of Marayamuttam and son of Neshamani and Maryn, went missing Saturday morning at 11.30 am while he was trying to remove garbage from the Amayizhanjan Canal that flows underneath the Thiruvananthapuram Central Railway Station in Thampanoor.
