Cop arrested for driving off with petrol pump employee on bonnet

KANNUR: A policeman was arrested in the case of driving off with the petrol pump employee on the bonnet. The arrested is K Santhosh Kumar, driver of A R Camp. He tried to attack Anil Kumar, an employee of Bharat Petrol Pump in Talap. The incident happened Sunday evening at 3 pm. The attack was when the employee tried to stop the car that was trying to leave without paying the full amount for the petrol filled.


The city police commissioner has suspended Santhosh Kumar from service. The police have registered a murder attempt case against the accused. Anil Kumar said that he has not yet received the balance amount. Santhosh Kumar reached the pump in his own car. He asked Anil to fill petrol for Rs 2100. Santhosh Kumar paid only Rs 1900 and was not willing to pay the balance amount of Rs 200.


Anil said that when he asked the balance amount, he gave a strange reply asking him to take it back from the car. When he tried to take the car forward, the employee stopped him. With this, the accused drove off the car with Anil Kumar on the bonnet. The employee had to travel a distance of 600 meters sitting on the bonnet.


Santhosh Kumar was accused in the case of a police jeep ramming into a petrol pump in front of the Kannur collectorate in last October. The police jeep which lost control rammed into the petrol pump in Kannur city.
