Govt sanctions 2.35 lakhs for M Sivasankar's treatment

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The state government has issued an order sanctioning the money spent on the treatment of M Sivasankar, former principal secretary to Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan. Rs 2,35,967 has been sanctioned from the government exchequer for the treatment undergone by Sivasankar, who is out on bail on medical grounds. Last year, Sivasankar was granted bail for undergoing spinal surgery and treatment.

Sivasankar had sought treatment at a private hospital in Thiruvananthapuram from August 13 to 17, 2023. On May 8, 2024, Sivasankar wrote to the Chief Minister requesting the government to grant the amount spent for the treatment. On July 11, the Public Administration Department issued an order approving the money after receiving permission from the Chief Minister.
