Kozhikode native man sends nude photo of woman to her father's WhatsApp number, arrested for threats and extortion attempts

WAYANAD: A 29-year-old man, Ashiq, has been arrested for allegedly threatening to share a nude photo of a woman and demanding money from her. The accused, a native of Kozhikode, was arrested at Karipur airport by the Meppadi police, who had received a complaint from the victim. The incident occurred in 2022, and a lookout notice had been issued against the accused, who was living abroad.

According to the complaint, the accused had sent the nude photo to the victim's father's WhatsApp number and also to a family friend's number, demanding Rs 10 lakh. He had threatened to share the photo on the internet if the money was not paid.

The victim, a native of Wayanad, had filed a complaint with the Meppadi police station, providing evidence. The police had recorded the victim's statement and issued a lookout notice against the accused.

After two years, when the accused arrived at Karipur airport, the airport authorities informed the police, leading to his arrest.
