THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Relatives and local party workers blocked the Neyyatinkara-Kattakkada road and then the Karamana-Kaliyikawila National Highway for four hours with Krishnapriya's dead body.

A large police force was deployed at the spot. Meanwhile, the protesters had a minor scuffle with the police. The protest was led by Congress and BJP workers with demands such as the dismissal of the doctor, government taking over the responsibility of Krishnapriya's baby and providing financial assistance. The protest ended at 11 pm when the RDO leadership gave a written assurance that the doctor would be suspended and financial assistance would be provided to the child.

Relatives and protestors from the medical college hospital arrived in front of the second gate of the Neyyattinkara General Hospital with the dead body at seven last night. Protesters who tried to push into the hospital were stopped by the police and a sit-in protest ensued. Due to this, the traffic on the Neyyatinkara-Kattakkada road came to a standstill. The protestors demanded that the DMO should reach the spot. DYSP Shaji and Tehsildar Srikala tried to persuade the protestors but to no avail.

The pattern of protest changed after the announcement that the DMO would arrive tomorrow. Around 8.30 am, the protesters called a mobile mortuary ambulance and shifted the body to it. At 8.45 it was decided to shift the protest to the national highway. Protesters reached Alummoodu Junction with the ambulance. There was traffic jam on the national highway with this. RDO Premjith reached the place and held a discussion at the Taluk office and gave a written assurance later. The body was cremated in the house at night.
