Film critic 'Aratt Annan' summoned by cops for using obscene remarks

Popular film critic and online personality Santhosh Varkey, known by his sobriquet ‘Aratt Annan’, was summoned by police on Wednesday. The Kochi native was asked to appear before the Ernakulam police station after actor Bala complained about the former indulging in obscene remarks and jibes at movie stars in the pretext of movie reviews.

Actor Bala had recently filed his complaint to AMMA (Association of Malayalam Movie Artists), which came to the attention of actor Siddique, who initiated further action. ‘Aratt Annan’, who reached the police station was made to sign a written statement in the presence of senior police officials that he would not again repeat such an offence.

Police warned Santhosh about strong legal actions if he were to repeat the mistakes. Meanwhile, AMMA organization has decided to take an iron fist approach against other Youtubers who gain traction by slandering and abusing movie stars.
