NEW YORK: An opinion poll held on Wednesday rooted for Kamala Harris to get an upper hand over Donald Trump in the American presidential elections. According to an opinion poll conducted by Reuters and another agency, Kamala received 44 per cent votes while Trump got 42 per cent. However, Donald Trump emerged as the ideal president for America in a few other polls. The mainstream media in the US on Wednesday went euphoric over the news of Trump going behind Kamala in the latest opinion polls.

Reports indicate that Kamala will be announced as the presidential candidate at the Democratic Party convention in August. Many insiders within the democratic party expressed their relief over Biden stepping down. Many in the democratic camp believe Kamala to trounce Donald Trump in the elections.

Some within the democratic party rooted for Michelle Obama to be a presidential candidate but it is too late to make any serious changes. White House sources indicated that Biden will soon reveal the reasons behind his decision to withdraw from the presidential candidacy.

Kimberly Cheatle, director of the Secret Service, which oversees security of the president and former presidents, resigned yesterday. Republicans have been calling for Kimberly's resignation since the security breach in the assassination attempt on Trump.
