KOCHI: Government told the High Court that the modified jeep driven by Shuhaib murder case accused Akash Thillenkeri is not in a condition to be put on the road safely. The action report stated that the vehicle should be dismantled and turned to scrap.

Sulaiman, a native of Malappuram, is the owner of the jeep. The report is based on the inspection of Wayanad vehicle department officials. It recommended that the vehicle be scrapped and its registration cancelled. The explanation is in the suo moto case filed by the division bench comprising Justice Anil K Narendra and Justice Harishankar V Menon.

Akash Thillankeri and his companions travelled through Panamaram town without wearing seat belts in the modified vehicle without a number plate. Akash's associates had posted a video of this with mass BGM on social media. Even hours after the incident came to light, the Motor Vehicle Department was not ready to file a case. The Division Bench of the High Court strongly criticized this.
