Sandals sewn by Rahul Gandhi not sold despite ₹10 lakh offers; Ram reveals plans for life-changing shoe
LUCKNOW: Ram Chet has been mending sandals on the roadside for years in Uttar Pradesh. Today, many people visit him daily. People arrive to take selfies, officers come to inquire about his welfare, and passers-by stop their cars to chat. The reason for this sudden attention is Lok Sabha Opposition Leader Rahul Gandhi.
Ram Chet's life changed on July 26. On his way back from attending court in Sultanpur, Rahul Gandhi came across Ram Chet's small sandal shop. He stopped, asked about the difficulties at home and work problems, and even joined in mending and gluing shoes. Many people came to buy the sandals that Rahul Gandhi fixed that day, with some offering up to Rs 10 lakh. However, Ram is not ready to sell that shoe, saying it will be kept in a glass case.
Ram now considers Rahul Gandhi a partner in the shop because he mended shoes with him. Because of Rahul Gandhi, people flock to see "Star Ram." Officials also visit from time to time to inquire about his problems. Rahul Gandhi had come to Sultanpur to appear in a defamation case for his remarks against Home Minister Amit Shah in May 2018.
