The minister informed this in the Rajya Sabha in response to a question from BJP MP Neeraj Shekhar. The BJP MP inquired about the new trains like Vande Bharat and Rajdhani which were launched in the last five years and the information about the zones in which they run.

'To meet the travel needs of different segments of passengers, Indian Railways introduces and operates various types of services. Express trains, superfast trains, passenger, MEMU, DEMU trains and suburban services have been started. 772 train services started between 2019-2020 and 2023-2024. These will include 100 Vande Bharat services' - informed Ashwani Vaishnav.

Ashwani Vaishnav had told the Lok Sabha on Thursday that the ministry plans to upgrade railway infrastructure and technology. He added that the Vande sleeper train has been designed for long distance journeys of 700 to 1000 km and the first train has been built and is now being tested.

All the old ICF coaches based on 1950s technology need to be replaced. Indian Railways is in the process of preparing a new coach based on today's technology. Ashwani Vaishnav added that these new coaches will be the testimony of Atmanirbhar Bharat.
